Student Support Manager Appointments
Positive wellbeing means living your life with happiness, engagement, and meaning - in other words, feeling good about what's happening in your life, feeling a sense of connection to others around you, and that your life has meaning to you.
If you’re feeling down, overwhelmed or struggling to adjust to student life, come and talk to a Residence Life Student Support Manager who can offer specific one-to-one support to help you manage and make sense of what you’re experiencing.
Here's what you can expect from an appointment with a Residence Life Student Support Manager:
a confidential space for you to explore and understand your difficulties
guidance, practical advice, interventions and self-help techniques
signposting to other relevant, more specific support services
a supportive friendly face to check in with throughout your time in university accommodation
Each appointment is 30 minutes and can be in person, by telephone or online through Google Meet to suit you.
Our Student Support Managers are trained in Mental Health First Aid, safeguarding and ASSIST and are qualified Sexual Violence Liaison Officers (SVLO’s). They liaise with other departments across the University to ensure that you get the right support at the right time. They are experienced professionals in supporting your wellbeing needs, appointments are open to all students, including postgraduate students.
To book an appointment, click the link for your accommodation location listed below, select an available appointment time and decide how you would like to meet. You’ll receive a calendar notification and a wellbeing self-assessment form for you to complete prior to the meeting, this will help us to think about how we can help you.
Please note Student Support Managers will listen and help you to see what options are available to you, to help you work through any issues you may be experiencing, but, if you're specifically seeking counselling or therapy, you will need to contact the Student Mental Health, Counselling and Therapies Service.
