Lunchtime Peer Support Group for Neurodiverse Students

By epickersgill 26 Jul 2023

Being a student at University can be exciting, but we understand that it can be difficult at times. We recognise that being Neurodiverse has its own challenges, particularly whilst we navigate our way through challenging and unpredictable times. Meeting other students in a similar situation can be a helpful way to feel supported and offers an opportunity to share experiences.

  • Facilitated peer support group
  • Opportunity to meet other Neurodiverse students
  • A space to be you
  • Make friends, share experiences, connect with others

The Student Wellbeing Service is hosting an online lunchtime peer support group for all students who identify as or are already diagnosed as Neurodiverse (Autistic Spectrum, ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia), including those waiting for diagnosis.  The purpose of the group is to provide an informal space to connect with each other in a supportive and non-judgmental environment, with a focus on wellbeing. The sessions are hosted by trained Wellbeing Advisors who can also provide wellbeing support on a range of topics identified by the group.

This is also open to new students who are planning to join the University who may want to meet current students and hear about their experiences.

The group runs weekly on Wednesday between 1-2pm either alternating online or in person throughout the semester and vacation times. In person, sessions are held in the Garden Room (Ground floor of the Information Commons) and alternate online.
