Loneliness; You are not alone

By epickersgill 09 Jan 2024

Coming to university can be a really exciting experience, but we know it can sometimes feel quite lonely. It is often the first time that many of our students have lived away from home and their first experience of living with lots of strangers. Feeling lonely is something that many students feel, and you should know that you are not alone.

To help students make connections with others and create a sense of community within the residences, we have the Residence Life Engagement and Development Team. The team puts on events every week, covering all kinds of interests to enable you to meet new people who enjoy similar things to you. You can find out more about Residence Life events via @residence_life on Instagram.

If you are feeling lonely, reach out for support. You can always arrange to speak to your Residence Life Mentor or attend the Residence Life Mentor Drop-in.

You can also arrange to speak to a Student Support and Wellbeing Officer at Residence Life via email at residentsupport@sheffield.ac.uk.
