Concerned about Someone?

By epickersgill 05 Jul 2022

Sometimes our friends and flatmates have a difficult time in University and it can be very easy to feel helpless in this situation. Everyone can struggle for different reasons but here are some potential signs to look out for;

  • They have gone missing.
  • They have told you there is a problem.
  • Their world view has dramatically changed.
  • Other people have expressed concern about them.
  • They are drinking alcohol or taking drugs to a degree that worries you.
  • You have noticed a change in their mood (eg they have become sadder, withdrawn, hyperactive or aggressive).
  • There have been changes in their behaviour towards things such as work, friends or other commitments.
  • There has been a dramatic change in their appearance (eg weight loss or gain, or decline in personal hygiene).

If you've noticed any worrying behaviour in a person and you need help, then click the link below.

If it’s not an emergency, you can arrange to speak to your Residence Life Mentor or attend the Residence Life Mentor Drop-in.
