Veganuary: My Top 5 Vegan Food Spots in London
Veganuary is here!
One of the common misconceptions about a Vegan lifestyle is that it's difficult to still enjoy the same great tastes and flavours found in non-vegan food; particularly at takeaways and eating out. However, one of the luxuries of life in London is that the Vegan options are endless.
If you're taking on the challenge of going vegan for January, trying to explore vegan options or just looking to try something new, here are my top 5 recommendations for vegan takeaways and restaurants on a student budget:
Veggie Pret:
Veggie Pret is a vegetarian and Vegan take on the traditional Pret with all options being vegetarian and/or Vegan. Including hot drinks with dairy alternative kinds of milk.
My Recommendations: Humous & Chipotle Wrap, Vegan Chocolate Croissant.
Locations: Canary Wharf, Great Eastern Street, Exmouth Market, Cardinal Place.
Vurger:
Vurger, has to be one of my favourite vegan takeaways as there is often something satisfying about being able to choose anything from the menu. Vurger is a vegan fast-food restaurant that has a range of burgers, milkshakes and sides to choose from all of which are vegan.
My Recommendations: The Classic Vurger burger, Crispy dippers, Chocolate Hazelnut shake.
Locations: Canary Wharf, Pitchford Street
Club Mexicana:
Club Mexicana has a fully vegan menu inspired by Mexican street food such as Tacos and Burritos.
My Recommendations: Fully Loaded Nachos, Cheezeburger Burrito
Locations: Soho
Neat Burger:
Neat Burger has a range of Burgers, with its specialty being to serve a range of vegan alternatives to the classic McDonalds Burgers and meals.
My Recommendations: Cheeseburger, Classic nuggets
Locations: Camden, Soho, Westfield Stratford City
Temple of Seiten:
Temple of Seiten specialises in vegan fried Chick’n and has won several awards including the UK’s best vegan restaurant in 2017 and is considered one of the most successful brands for vegan fast food across Europe.
My Recommendations: Temple wings, popcorn snack pack and the cookie shake!
Locations: Hackney, Camden Town
Of course, all of these have a range of new items for Veganuary alongside their classic menus. While many of these are exclusively vegetarian and/or vegan, there are several larger chain stores and takeaways that offer a number of brand-new vegan options for Veganuary. Therefore, whether you participate in Veganuary or choose vegan as a lifestyle it is clear that there are a number of easy swaps that allow you to have the same great experiences while also doing your bit for the planet
Happy Veganuary!
