Used by vs. best before dates
Do you know the difference between use by and best before dates?
Use by date is about safety - foods can be eaten up until the use by date, but not after.
Best before date is about quality and not safety. The food will be safe to eat after this date but may not be at its best.
You can find lots of short dated or slightly past the best before date items in our Community Fridge and larder area... hopefully this guide will help you feel happy in using up some of these freebie ingredients.
