Getting around campus
A comprehensive guide for new students
The University's main campus is located in Claverton Down, on the east side of Bath. Just in case you need it, here's the address:
University of Bath
Claverton Down
Bath
BA2 7AY
United Kingdom
Find your way here using Google Maps.
If you are using a satnav, use 'Norwood Avenue, Bath', not 'Quarry Road', to get to the main entrance of the campus and visitor car parks.
Visit our travel advice section for more detailed information on how to get to the city of Bath and the University campus.
Download a campus map
When you first arrive, or even if you've been here for a while, it can be easy to lose your bearings when trying to find a specific building.
The campus map shows parking, buildings and department locations. It also shows locations of wheelchair and accessible parking. For more detailed advice and information on accessibility visit our accessible access guide.
Take the self-guided tour
Once you've watched Ella's video (at the top of this article) we recommend the self-guided tour to help find your own favourite spots on campus. The official self-guided tour is meant for visitors to the University, but why not take the tour yourself to help orientate yourself?
Download the self-guided tour map, or follow the steps below.
- Start your tour at the main University bus stop.
- Walk up the steps / take the lift to the Parade. On your right you’ll see our Student Centre, home to the Students’ Union offices, The Plug Bar and The Tub Nightclub. This building is open 8am til late, so you can pop in and see your award winning SU.
- Walk along the Parade to the library, the centre of the campus.
- Cross the Parade and go down the steps opposite the library / take the lift to see the lake. This is a great spot to relax and eat your lunch if the weather is good! You can also access the Fountain Canteen from here.
- Go back up the steps / use the lift and turn left down the Parade and you’ll come to 4W which houses our Student Services Centre and then the 4W Café. On your right hand-side you will see our on campus supermarket and post office.
- Continue straight ahead down the walk way until you reach 10W, our home for Psychology. Feel free to take a look inside. Across the car park you can see Polden Corner which includes our Polden accommodation and our West Accommodation Centre.
- Walk past 9W and 7W to the end of the road, turn right and walk up the road to see some of our student accommodation.
- Turn right at the no entry sign to visit the Chancellors’ Building and take a look at some of the teaching spaces on offer.
- Re-join the road and then Eastwood is on your left. Continue along the road and turn right. Woodland Court is on your left.
- Continue along to our student accommodation, The Quads. 708 en-suite rooms across five buildings make up this part catered complex.
- Turn back towards the road, before turning left to walk behind The Quads and to walk between The Quads and Solsbury Court.
- Turn left around the Lime Tree. Continue straight ahead, walking past the East Car Park towards The Edge, our arts building. Take a look at the latest exhibition in our gallery.
- Continue around the corner and you will find the Sports Training Village with its fantastic facilities including the Olympic length swimming pool and the Team Bath Gym and Fitness Centre. You will see the new School of Management facing the Sports Training Village.
- Your self-guided tour finishes here.
Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it
Remember that it's perfectly normal to ask for help when navigating campus. Don't hesitate to approach friendly staff members, fellow students, or student ambassadors who are often available to assist newcomers.
Whether you're looking for a specific building or need directions to an event, reaching out for guidance can save you time and make your campus experience more enjoyable.
Navigating your university campus as a new student may seem overwhelming at first, but with the right information and a proactive approach, you can quickly become familiar with your surroundings.
