Finding your community with ResLife
Hello, my name is Yasmin, and I am a ResLife Ambassador at the University of Bath. You may be thinking, "What exactly does a ResLife Ambassador do?". Well, our role is dedicated to supporting students at the University of Bath, to ensure that they seamlessly integrate into both the vibrant campus community and the surrounding city environment.
Building community at the start of uni
A key responsibility as a ResLife Ambassador is to welcome incoming students. Starting university can be daunting, therefore, we provide a friendly face to answer questions and to settle any nerves.
To ensure a smooth transition into university life, each residential hall is also assigned a dedicated ResLife Ambassador team that conducts household visits during the initial weeks of uni. These visits serve as a chance for us to communicate essential information, address queries, and establish a sense of familiarity, fostering an environment where students can confidently reach out to us whenever needed.
Building community throughout the academic year
As part of the Residence Life Team, we also run a programme of social events and activities for students throughout the year, including bowling, yoga, quizzes/competitions, trips/walks and mixers in the halls themselves. They provide the perfect opportunity for students to meet like-minded individuals, try new experiences, and have fun in a flexible and casual setting. Find out more about upcoming event details and sign up on our ResLife Event Pages.
Articles are also regularly posted on the ResLife Pages on relevant topics such as lifestyle, wellbeing, and sustainability at Bath. In addition, our Uni of Bath ResLife Instagram page keeps students updated on events, accommodation, and life in Bath etc. – click here to take a look and follow the @unibathreslife Instagram page.
As well as general guidance, as a ResLife Ambassador we also deliver one-to-one support, drawing from our own university experiences, which is communicated via email, Microsoft Teams, or in-person, based on the student's preference.
In essence, the ResLife Team aim to offer guidance and provide a variety of activities that meet the diverse needs of our student community.
