How prepared are you for uni?

By BzBarlow 03 Jun 2020

Moving away from home, there's a lot to think about! With all the excitement, it can be easy to forget the simple things.

To make sure you're prepared, we've put a few questions together. See how you get on...

1. Which of the following items can you NOT bring to halls?
Kettle
Candles
Photos/posters
Duvet
Deep-fat fryer
Select 2 answers

The last thing you want is to waste space in your luggage with items that you're not allowed in halls. LED, battery-powered lights can be a safer alternative to candles. If you're not sure, see below for the full list of banned items:

  • Fairy lights/Candles
  • Weapons
  • Furniture
  • Rice Cookers
  • Pets
2. Have you joined your halls Facebook group?
Yes
No

Joining your halls Facebook group before you get here is a great way to introduce yourself and meet those you'll be living with. If you're still to join, we've put them all below for you...

3. Have you registered with a GP?
Yes
No

If not, make sure you do! You won't want to do this when you're actually ill so do it now to save the hassle.

We recommend Headingley Surgery and you can register using the form here.

4. Have you been vaccinated yet?
Yes
No
Select 1 answers

You're going to be around lots of new people when you get onto campus so it's important to get vaccinated before you arrive. You can do this by booking in at your local GP, don't forget!

5. What can you get student discount on?
Meals out
Clothing
Train tickets
All of them!

That's right, being a student definitely has its perks. Be sure to get yourself a TOTUM card to get discounts across a range of stores and restaurants. If you plan on travelling a lot, 16-25 railcard will get you a 1/3 off train travel too.

Congrats! You're now ready for uni, we'll see you soon!
