Food & shopping in Galashiels
Hungry for some delicious food and bargains? Then look no further as we cover everything you need to know on those topics.
In need of clothes?
Galashiels town centre is filled with plenty of places where you can grab some new threads, but as a student, it may be best to hit up some of the many charity shops at your disposal. There are always hidden gems for extremely low prices, so it's worth doing that before going to the pricier places such as Next. There is also a TK Maxx and a Matalan which are good cheaper alternatives. You can use the map at the bottom of the article for all the places mentioned in this article.
In need of groceries?
Aldi is a student's best friend and definitely should be your first choice when getting in your weekly food shop. The only issue is that depending on where you are living, it might be a bit of a distance if you do not have access to a car. For reference, the Aldi is a 40-minute walk from campus. There is an ASDA located more in the centre if you want a closer alternative and an M&S if you're feeling fancy (but don't expect cheap prices there!).
In need of food, food & more food?
If you want to treat yourself to a tasty restaurant meal at a reasonable price then these recommendations below are a good start:
