Accident and Emergency Services

It is always important to know what you should do in a medical emergency.

If you are new to Edinburgh or unsure of the services available, please read this carefully!

In an emergency you should go to the hospital immediately, they are open 24 hours.

Examples of emergency situations include

  • Accidents
  • Acute medical conditions – e.g heart attack
  • Suspected broken bones
  • Deep wounds
  • Heavy blood loss
  • Difficulty breathing

There are two nearby hospitals with A&E departments:

If you are on campus and require emergency transport to the hospital contact SafeGuarding (via Safezone App, or call 0131 451 3500 or pick up the red phone) who can arrange for a contract taxi (no charge) or an ambulance to take you to the hospital.

If you are off-campus call 999 and ask for an ambulance.
