Purdown View | Laundry
Wash Point provide the laundry facilities in Purdown View.
Laundrettes are in the common spaces. Currently only block eight is open - more will open once construction is complete.
There are washing machines and separate tumble dryers so you don't have to carry wet laundry back to your flat to dry. These are for everyone in Purdown View to use so make sure you collect your washing promptly when it is finished. You can check which machines are in use (as well as how long they have left on their cycle) on the Wash Point website.
You pay for the wash and the dry separately:
- £2 for the wash
- £1 for the tumble dryer
Wash Point accepts contactless payments from VisaDebit, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
You can find more information directly on the Wash Point website.
Things to remember:
- Sort your washing into colours. Lights, darks and colours tend to be the safest option but check your clothes labels too in case they need special treatment (cool wash, wool wash, that kind of thing).
- You'll need to provide your own detergents and fabric softeners. You can buy both in the supermarket (Lidl, Sainsbury's and ASDA are a short walk away) or have them delivered via companies like Smol.
- Don't overload the machines. It might be tempting to cram in as much as possible to reduce trips but this can cause problems. Not only is it not great for the machine, but it also isn't great for your clothes. Make sure there's enough room for the machine to do its job.
- Clean out the lint tray in the dryer before you use it. This makes the drying process much more effective.
- If you open the dryer door mid-cycle it will stop it. Make sure you press the 'start' button again to complete the cycle.
