How to pay your Accommodation Fees
Well, you've accepted an offer of accommodation and paid a £600 prepayment. How do you pay the rest?
The good news is that all of your accommodation fees will be paid through your MyCampus account and it's really easy to organise. You'll also find a number of payment options open to you so you can select a plan that best suits your circumstances.
Your fees will appear on MyCampus shortly after the contract start date so be sure to make arrangements to set up your payment plan as soon as possible to ensure that you are on time for the first instalment that is due in October.
The main options for paying your accommodation fees are Direct Debit, Monthly Payment Plan or via a single one-off payment.
How do I set up a Direct Debit?
Paying with a Direct Debit is one of the most convenient ways to settle your fees as the money will be deducted automatically from your bank account over a schedule of monthly instalments.
This year, the Direct Debits will be taken in seven (or nine, if contract is for 12 months) equal instalments from October to April (June). For a better idea of what these instalments would look like check out the typical direct debit instalments on our website.
To set up a Direct Debit to pay for your accommodation fees you will need to complete your financial registration online on MyCampus. If you have not already done so, this video from Student Services will show you how to do it. You'll also need to have a UK bank account set up to so for more on this see the section below.
How do I open a UK Bank Account?
You can open a UK bank account once you are in Glasgow. You'll need a bank letter and a passport or ID.
As soon as your account is set up you will be able to upload your bank details straight on to MyCampus.
📆How do I create a Manual Payment Plan?
If you don't want to set up a Direct Debit but would like to pay your fees on a monthly basis you can also set up a Manual Payment Plan. With a Manual Payment Plan you will be given a series of due dates and you can decide on the method of payment (credit/debit card, bank transfer, cheque). Just remember that you are responsible for ensuring the payment is received by the due date each month so keep plenty of reminders in your calendar!
To set up a Manual Payment Plan just select ‘Manual Payment Plan’ in the finances section of your MyCampus student centre and you will be shown a selection of plans that you are eligible to sign up for.
💳How do I pay for my fees in a single payment?
If you would rather pay your full accommodation fees in one payment using a credit/debit card on MyCampus or by bank transfer that is also fine.
To pay your fees in a one off, single payment simply go the Finances section of your Student Centre click the ‘Make a Payment’ link. You'll then see a list of items that you can pay online so select accommodation fees, enter the amount you wish to pay in the relevant ‘Payment Amount’ field and proceed to payment. Just remember that all payments are made in GBP.
