Arriving at Glasgow International Airport

Our colleagues in International Student Support Team (ISS) have provided the information below about arrival at Glasgow Airport, Immigration, and how to travel from Glasgow Airport to Glasgow City Centre.

Glasgow International Airport is located 8 miles from the Glasgow city centre.

Immigration

Please follow the signs and make your way to the baggage reclaim area via passport-border control (UK Border Force). Have your passport and all relevant documents ready – this will help speed up the process and reduce the amount of time you must queue.

If you have items to declare:

Please go to the Customs red point.
If your journey started in a European Union country, use the blue exit.
If your journey began outside the European Union, use the green exit.

If you have nothing to declare:

If your journey started in a European Union country, use the blue exit.
If your journey began outside the European Union, use the green exit.

Onward travel from Glasgow Airport

Please note there is no train service from Glasgow Airport

By Bus - direct to the city centre

Glasgow Airport Express service 500 is operated by First Glasgow and is the official bus service connecting the airport and the city centre.

The easiest way to buy your ticket and to find out timetable information is by using the First Bus App which you can download from any app store on your phone. Simply download the app, pre-purchase your ticket, and show your QR code to the driver directly via the app.

Due to driver shortages, buses are expected to leave the airport every 15 – 30 minutes.

Glasgow Airport Express Service 500 (Stance 1) operates from the Airport between 05:00 – 24:00*

*There are no buses between 24:00 – 05:00

By Taxi - best for getting to your residence

Travelling from Glasgow Airport by taxi? There is no online booking function for Glasgow Airport taxis but you are able to get a taxi from the main entrance of the Terminal building. The taxi fare to Glasgow averages between £30 - £40 depending on what part of the city you are going to.
