We've put together this FAQs article to cover the main questions students are asking about their accommodations. Any information that isn't covered here can be found in the residents' guide for Walker Street.

Will I always have access to hot water and heating?

Hot water is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The heater can be controlled by the thermostatic dial. There is a heater in each room and also in the communal area of your flat.

Note: The heater will switch off when the temperature reaches 21°C. To re-enable press the white button on the wall next to the heater.

How can I contact my reception?

Reception is open between 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. The on-site team can be contacted by telephone and email.

Out of hours, reception is covered by security officers. Should you have any maintenance issues outside of our reception opening hours, you can report them to the security officers, however if it is an emergency please call the 24-hour site number.

What is my postal address?

Please make sure the following details are included in your address when you are having mail sent to you:

Where do I collect my parcels?

All parcels are accepted at Moor Lane Halls between 9am-5pm and can be collect between these hours. If you are unable to collect your parcel when the office Is open (Monday-Friday), feel free to contact us and we can leave your parcel out with security for you to collect when you can. Alternatively, you can have a friend/ flatmate collect your post as long as you inform us in writing via email prior to collection. Please ensure you put your full name and address on your parcel.

Letters at Moor Lane Halls will be posted through your flat door.

Letters at Walker Street will be posted to your flat post box. This is located at the back of block B.

Where are the laundry rooms?

As you know, all your household bills are included in your rent. The only thing you have to pay for is our laundry facilities, they are set at an affordable price of £2.50 for a wash and £1.00 for a dry. To pay for the laundry you just need to download the Circuit Plus app!

The laundry at Moor Lane Halls is located next to block 4. Your fob will allow you to go through block 3 to get there. The laundry block is open 24 hours a day.

The laundry at Walker Street is located on the first floor of block B. The laundry is open 7am-10pm, with the last wash at 9:30pm. This is to ensure there is minimal noise to the surrounding flats.

How can I recycle?

Waste is collected regularly by our waste disposal contractors who deal with waste in an environmentally responsible manner. You can speak to your on-site team for local recycling opportunities. Bin stores are located next to block A.

Note: At the end of the year we give unwanted food and clothing to The Salvation Army as well as bedding to various animal charities and furniture to local charity Emmaus. Please bring any donations to reception at Moor Lane Halls before you leave.

How does bike storage work?

Bicycles can be kept on-site in designated areas. Please do not keep bikes in your flat or anywhere they may block stairwells or emergency exits. Please use a lock to secure your bike. Please come to reception to register your bike with us otherwise it may be removed.

Does my flat have cleaners assigned?

You are responsible for keeping your flat clean and tidy. Please ensure you take responsibility for your own washing up and put things away.

What is the guest policy?

Please feel free to bring your friends and family over. Guests can stay in your room for up to two consecutive nights.

Lending of rooms (subletting) or keys is strictly prohibited. You are responsible for all guests and must accompany them at all times while on-site. Under-18s must not stay overnight. If you do not tell us about guests you may risk losing your tenancy.

How do I connect to the Wi-Fi?

We have an external Wi-Fi provider called Glide. To connect, you just need to go to settings on your phone, select Glide and create a free account. Once created you should automatically connect to the Wi-Fi.

How do I access the gym?

We have a free gym onsite at Moor Lane Halls which is open from 7am-11pm. To access the gym you just need to book a quick induction, once complete we will amend your fob and you will gain gym access.

Don’t worry, if you are living at Walker Street, you can still gain access to the facilities at Moor Lane Halls!

Fire alarm testing

The fire alarms are tested every Wednesday between 11am-3pm. If the fire alarm is set of at any other time, please follow the fire evacuation plan.
