Recipes from around the world: Belgian Waffles
Pour some sugar on them!
With just a little beer, you can turn your run-of-the-mill waffle into an extra tasty sensation. It might seem weird at first but trust us, this recipe is simple but effective.
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 1 and a half cups of low-alcohol beer
- 2 cups of plain flour
- Icing sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- Half a cup of pearl sugar
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Method
- Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat, then pour beer into the mix and stir. Set aside until cool.
- Put the flour, icing sugar and yeast in a large bowl and mix it.
- then add egg yolks and more butter and set it aside for a few hours.
- Then add olive oil and pearl sugar in a bowl and stir it until batter and make it thick and then cut it into 7 portions.
- Then heat up the waffle iron, brush it with oil, spoon the batter over the waffle iron, and close and bake until golden brown.
- Serve with extra butter, icing sugar and enjoy!
