Pride: your voices

By SanctuarySocial 02 Aug 2023

Thank you for all your amazing messages!

Recently we ran the 'What pride means to me' competition where we asked Sanctuary Students for their personal messages on how Pride has had a positive effect on their lives and we're happy to report we received LOADS! So much so that we thought we'd share some of those incredible responses here.

"It means being proud about yourself and being yourself without fear!"

"Pride to me is the confidence and acceptance of my entire self. Even if there are aspects of who I am that I don't fully know or perhaps understand, I accept they are still a part of me. Pride is being completely, perfectly, incandescently happy."

"Spending time for my boyfriend <3"

"It is a way of emphasizing the celebration of people's true identity, of those who had the courage to show the world who they are and what they believe in, and also a celebration of those who are building up to that moment. It makes everyone appreciate love in all forms and it shows acceptance."

"A reminder that everyone deserves to be loved and respected, unconditionally of their sexual/romantic orientation and gender identity."

"For me, Pride is a vibrant affirmation of self-love and acceptance, a powerful declaration that everyone deserves to live authentically and be celebrated for who they are."

"Pride means acceptance, pride means feeling comfortable in my own skin, pride means feeling safe to walk down the streets, pride means feeling safe to visibly love who I love. Pride means caring about the difference but valuing it the same. Pride should mean to you as much as it means to me."

"Free to be me."

Happy pride to all at Sanctuary Students! Keep spreading the love and share some with us @sancstudents.
