7 no-spend activities for the summer
If you're looking for something fun to do without breaking the bank, check out our top no-spend activities that you can do with flatmates, friends or alone!
1. Sight see!
Liverpool might be your new home but there's no real reason why you can't be a tourist in your own city! Thankfully in Liverpool you can do lots of sightseeing across the city for free. Take a stroll along the Pier Head and spot the three graces before wandering around the Albert Dock. Heading down to the water front from campus? You can pop into the two cathedrals on your way there!
If you fancy a bit more culture and art, the Museum of Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery, Tate Museum and more are completely free to enter. If that's not enough for you, wander around the city centre and spot the Chinese Arch, Bombed Out Church, Town Hall and Bluecoat!
2. Movie Night
Nothing beats getting cosy and sticking your fave film on! Having a movie night is a perfect way to spend a night in with flatmates, flatmates (or watch alone!) and not spend lots of money. Why not take it in turns between your friends to each choose a film and that way you'll get to watch something new! Did you know that the libraries here at the University have platforms where you can watch films for free? Check out Kanopy, BoB and BFI player here.
3. Try a new recipe
Trying a new recipe can be a good way to learn a new skill and score some brownie points with your flatmates! Mob is your go to for tasty recipes suitable for everyone. You can even filter out recipes based on the cost. So if you're looking for a recipe that's under £10 or even £5, Mob have got you covered here. 5. Exercise
Exercise is free! Whether on a nice, long walk or maybe even a jog is your thing then you could join a Run For All with Sport Liverpool which is totally commitment-free and open to all abilities! Sport Liverpool's Turn up and play sessions also include activities like table tennis, badminton and more. The ideal way to get stuck into something new & meet new people!

6. Start a new book
There's no better feeling than having a spare few hours to relax and get stuck into a new book. Finding a new book doesn't need to come at any extra cost either. Why not borrow a book from the library (the University libraries offer non-academic books too!!) or ask a friend to do a swap? Having a friend pick out a book for you means you might be open to reading something new that you wouldn't necessarily pick yourself!
7. Enjoy fresh air
If the weather is on your side, make the most of Liverpool's green spaces and explore the amazing parks we have in the city. Find out more about the city's parks, green spaces and walks here.
