Ways to make the most of more daylight hours

Short winter days are nearly behind us as we can start to feel that Spring air just around the corner...

At the end of March, the clocks will go forward 1 hour meaning more daylight for us to do the things we love outside! Not only will it feel like we have more time in the day but we also know we’re that bit closer to feeling some summer sunshine.

Getting out and enjoying some fresh air can have such a positive impact on our mood, wellbeing and brain function! As we head into the last term of the year, be sure to take the time to enjoy the health benefits of spring time and also to see the sights of the city.

Make the most of your time in Liverpool and use those extra few hours of sunshine to tick activities off your Liverpool bucket list. Here’s some ways you can spend your time…

Pay a visit to Ness Gardens for just £1!

Ness Gardens are beautiful botanic gardens and part of University of Liverpool which means students can enter the gardens for just £1! It's landscapes are definitely worth a visit for a walk on a sunny day before heading to their café!

Picnic in the park 

You've got the pick of Sefton Park, Calderstones Park, Greenbank Park and so many more when it comes to having a picnic in the park. Make something delicious at home, bring a blanket and enjoy what the parks have to offer. A great one for an affordable afternoon out! Golden hour at the waterfront

There's no better place to watch the sun go down than on the waterfront! Golden hour with the famous four has got to be on the bucket list.

Spend a sunny afternoon at the Bombed Out Church

St Luke's church was suffered huge damage in 1941 but still stands today as one of Liverpool's many cultural arts venues! It's open for the public to explore its history before relaxing in its very own Garden Café. Keep an eye on their Instagram page for events and activities taking place there!

Stroll along Penny Lane

Penny Lane is famous for its Beatles song so if you're really looking to immerse yourself in the city's famous spots, this is one to go to! Penny Lane is right near Greenbank Student Village and is home to independent shops, bakeries, pubs, deli's and bars. If you're making it a full Beatles day out then Strawberry Fields is your next stop!

Day trip! 

With local trains, you can get from Liverpool City Centre to the likes of Chester and Wirral super easily! Mersey Rail have a handy journey planner to help you figure out your best route

See Liverpool from a whole new view!

Another idea for sunset is to go to a viewpoint of the city. The Anglican cathedral offers 360 views of the whole city which will really put your landmark spotting to the test.

Botanical Gardens Liverpool

There are so many outdoor gardens that serve and drinks in Liverpool and Botanical Gardens is just one of them. Take a wander around the Baltic triangle for street art spotting and check out the Red Brick Market across the road before heading for something to quench your thirst! Be sure to check out opening times/hours as lots of these gardens might be closed until closer to summer.

Visit Crosby Beach

It doesn't have to be hot for you to go to the beach, if you wrap up well you'll be good to go! A walk along the beach can blow away the cobwebs and be a nice change of scenery. Water sports!

We being right on the river, we have our very own water sports centre. If you're looking for a whole new experience to try out, Liverpool Water Sports Centre offer sessions, even for beginners, on open water swimming, kayaking, paddle boards and so much more. If you're an adrenaline seeker, this might be one for you!

Country walk! 

You might be living in the heart of a busy city but green space is not far away! If you're looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle then try this 2-3 hour country walk trail through some of Liverpool's best parks. Click here!
