Today, I am going to share a budget-friendly recipe that I would love to cook which is chicken fry. I have listed the ingredients I used in this process. Like many international students, I didn't have any idea how to cook, so I sought help from my mom through a video call until the end of the cooking process. Fortunately, she patiently guided me throughout.
In the initial stage, I cleaned the chicken that I bought from Sainsbury's. Since I'm not an expert in cooking, I didn't want to risk ruining the whole chicken in one go. So, I placed eight medium pieces of chicken in a bowl. Then, I added salt, turmeric, black pepper, chili powder, ginger and garlic paste, and seasoning powder. Depending on how spicy you want it, you can adjust the quantity of black pepper and chili powder. However, if you prefer to use green chili, it would be appropriate to skip the chili powder.
After adding the spices, I mixed all the ingredients with the chicken for 2 minutes and let it marinate for 30 minutes. Later, I used a non-stick pan to fry the chicken and added the oil. As soon as I heard the sound of the oil getting heated, I added the marinated chicken pieces. At that moment, a few droplets of water somehow got into the hot oil pan and started to splatter everywhere, so I covered it with a lid. After a few minutes, I flipped the chicken pieces to ensure they were fried evenly. Using a fork is more convenient than a spoon in this situation. I wanted the chicken to be crispy on the outside, so I left it in the pan for another 5 minutes. As the chicken was fried and properly cooked, I added cumin seeds, one of my favorites because of its pleasant aroma. If you like curry leaves, you can also add them to the pan at the end.
Ingredients for cooking Chicken Fry
