Top things to do near Wick Park
We have put together our 'must do' things to check out around our UAL Halls.
Opened in 2023, Wick Park is one of UAL's newest halls of residence. Located in the vibrant borough of Hackney, there's so much happening around this halls for you to immerse yourself in as a student.
Whether you are looking for something to do on a study break, or check out on the weekend, we have put together some of our top things to check out in the area.
LCF East Bank 🎓
The new campus on the east bank is only a 12-minute walk away and has spectacular panoramic views of the Olympic Park.
It is also lined with food trucks for a quick lunch along the way.
Stratford Surroundings 🏟️
You can take a dip into the Olympic swimming pool at the London Aquatic Center which is only a 12-minute walk away, catch some breathtaking views from the ArcelorMittal Orbit, or watch a football match at the West Ham stadium.
Transport Essentials 🚌
Hackney is very well connected. You’ve got the tube station and Stratford International Station, which is a 20-minute walk away, and the Stratford City bus stand is also close by.
The Stratford Post office is less than a 30-minute walk from the accommodation.
The nearest GP is Liberty Bridge Road Practice. Make sure you are registered with a GP once you move into your halls.
Shop 'til you drop 💅
Westfield Mall is only 20-minute walk from Wick Park and has more than 300 retailers, so you are bound to find something you love.
Make sure you ask for student discounts as most of the places offer reasonable student discounts.
Grab the popcorn and make it a date 🍿
For all the movie buffs, you can catch the latest movies at Vue in Westfield Mall and at the Stratford Picturehouse.
Budget friendly food 💷
When you want to cut down on groceries or stock up on essentials for the month, head to Stratford Center which is a 20-minute walk away from the accommodation. You will find Sainsbury’s (don’t forget to use your Nectar card), Lidl, Poundland, and for some amazing Asian food try Loon Fung.
You can also find a bunch of fresh fruits and veggies sold within the complex for £1 a basket.
Embrace your gym glow up 🏋️♀️
Whether you're getting back into fitness or a well-seasoned gym-goer, Wick Park has a well-equipped gym that is open 24 hours and is free for students to use.
Although, if you do want to sign up for a gym subscription, check out Better Gym and Anytime Fitness in the East Village or Hackney.
Get amongst mother nature 🌸🌿
When it comes to finding some outdoor space, you will be spoilt for choice if you live at Wick Park as it is situated between the beautiful gardens of Victoria Park and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, home to the London Blossom Garden.
When you want to get away from the bustle of Hackney, head up to the Wetlands Walk, which is a 20 minute walk away that features a scenic park with various benches overlooking mini ponds filled with ducks and various other birds.
